How to Clean Gaming Chair?

 How to Clean Gaming Chair

Anyone who spends a long time in front of a computer knows that a good-quality gaming chair can come in handy. Not only do they make game playing more comfortable, but they can also be used for reading, watching TV, or just taking a break from it all. But what should you do if your gaming chair gets dirty? Here are a few tips on how to clean a gaming chair quickly and easily.

Check Your Gaming Chair’s Material

Before you start cleaning your gaming chair, it’s important to evaluate the material. Some materials can be more delicate than others and require special care. For example, leather is a common material for gaming chairs, but it can be easily damaged by harsh cleaners. If your gaming chair is made of leather, be sure to use a gentle cleaner and avoid scrubbing too harshly. If you’re not sure what material your gaming chair is made of, check the manufacturer’s website or look for a label on the chair itself.

Confirm the Type of Upholstery

You can usually find the type of upholstery you need on either the manufacturer’s specifications or the manufacturer’s instructions. You can also check with your gaming chair’s manufacturer to see what kind of upholstery it requires.

Deodorize Upholstery

To do this, a scrubbing pad, laundry detergent, water, a towel, and a firm brush are required.

  1. Apply detergent to the scrubbing pad and add water
  2. Scrub into the fabric
  3. Scrub further utilizing the firm brush
  4. Use a clean cloth dampened with water to remove the detergent buildup from the fabric.
  5. Use direct sunlight, a blowdryer, or let your chair lie overnight to dry it.

Note that this would only work with chairs that utilize fiber upholstery.

These steps may not be applicable for all types of upholstery, so make sure you check the care tag of your gaming chair before proceeding with anything;

S means solvent only, W means only water but you can always use a bit of mild detergent, and S/W means you can use both solvent and water either on their own or together.

Upholstery Deep Cleaning Process

Fabric Upholstery

The deep cleaning process of fabric chairs is generally the same as the steps to deodorize them, so you can just apply the same steps and your chair’s fabric is good to go!

Mesh Upholstery

To properly deep clean a mesh chair follow these steps;

The solvent solution includes 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water, once you have done this, place it inside a spray bottle. Spray this solution on a soft cloth and gently dab the mess. DO NOT SCRUB your gaming chair! Just be gentle and blot the entire chair until it is visibly clean. Make sure your gaming chair is away from direct sunlight and let it air dry. To ventilate indoor spaces, open windows.

Faux Leather

The faux leather chair is usually made from PU leather or PVC leather. This might sound intimidating to deep clean but it is one of the easiest to clean. Just soak a microfiber cloth in a water-based cleaner, or you can even use just plain water. Use this damp cloth to rub the leather gaming chair clean. Wipe down with a dry cloth.

Vacuum and/or Dust the Gaming Chair Upholstery

This should be done at least once a week to avoid excessive build-up of dust, which would be harder to clean up.

You’ll need to vacuum your mesh or fabric upholstery so that you can get rid of the dust hidden within it. For a regular vacuum cleaner, use a brush attachment and rub over any areas where there are grass cuttings stuck onto its fibers for example; brush off debris if necessary before running a clean suction tube over these types of material again afterward!

If your upholstery is made of artificial leather (PU or PVC leather), there is no need to vacuum as you can easily just dust off dust with the use of a microfiber cloth.

Focus on Stains

The aforementioned methods might fall short on stubborn stains. After washing it with a water solution, you might still need to spot and clean certain issue areas if you can still see them.

Apply a few drops of rubbing alcohol on a little cotton ball to do this. Make sure it won’t harm your upholstery before using it to spot clean. As a result, you should begin by testing it away from view, or under the chair. Wait a few minutes to observe whether any harm results. If not, use it to gently rub or blot spots to get rid of them. Mesh upholstery should be treated with extreme care because it is a delicate material.

Wash Armrest, Base, and Frame

Are you sure that your upholstery is clean now? Great! Now let us clean the armrest, base, and frame of your gaming chair.

Simply grab a soft sponge or cloth, a bowl of warm water, and a small amount of mild detergent. The armrests, base, and frame can then be washed, and the surface can be dried with a paper towel or other dry material.

Clean the Wheels

The caster wheels are now the only thing that needs cleaning. Unfortunately, cleaning these is usually the most frustrating aspect because they tend to collect a lot of hair and other debris that gets twisted in them and is difficult to remove.

You’ll need to flip your chair over first in order to clean them. Next, get your vacuum and clean inside crevices using the crevice tool. Once all the large bits and hair have been removed, you may use a cloth and surface cleanser to clean the outside of the items and then wipe them down with rubbing alcohol.

Note: There may be times that you will need to disassemble your chair is in a need of very very thorough cleaning, however, don’t worry! you can always check out here on how to assemble.

Conclusion

Now that you know how to clean your gaming chair, it should be looking and smelling a lot better. Make sure to deep clean it at least once every few months using the methods we’ve outlined for you. This will help keep your chair in good condition and free from any nasty smells.
